We want to take a moment to thank you for your tenacity, bravery and endless commitment this year.
With the additional restrictions announced over the weekend (and prior for NI), it feels like a further uphill struggle both personally, and for groups that are constantly in flux and not knowing what’s around the corner.
This year has shown the power of community groups like yours to step forward and play an essential role in bringing communities together. The stories of groups delivering activity packs to homes, sourcing technology, delivering food and care packages to vulnerable and isolated neighbours, making phonecalls to check in on people, setting up foodbanks, running online sessions and so much more have been inspiring and more than that, have shown how crucial Sported members are to the very fabric of our society. We’ve also been honoured to start working with group leaders to make sport more diverse and inclusive at all levels as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
We believe that Sported being chosen as one of The Times/Sunday Times Christmas Appeal 2020 charities is a recognition of this and that it is a gamechanger for both Sported and the Sport for Development sector.
2020 has also been a year of reflection and consultation. Thanks to those of you who completed our member consultation and took part in focus groups. They’ve been invaluable and will shape how we deliver services and benefits going forward. Please watch the video below from Head of Services and Partnerships, Kathryn King and hear her talk about what you’ve told us and what we’re doing to answer the call.
We have great hopes for 2021 and we will be by your side every step of the way.
Until then, we wish you a healthy and safe festive season.
The email@example.com inbox will be monitored over the holidays and we’re back on the 4th of January ready to hit the ground running.
Thank you for all you do and we look forward to supporting you in 2021.
The Sported Team
